Live Active Grant

The Live Active Grant provides financial support to organizations offering Live Active initiatives to ��ϲ��ians, such as:

Advancing a barrier free (time, cost, transportation, social, cultural) active recreation and sport system
Advancing Physical Literacy and and active recreation experiences for all ��ϲ��ians, especially for all children 0-12 years

Grant Funding and Application

The Live Active grant is now fully expended. We are no longer accepting applications for 2025.

Applicant Eligibility

Must be a registered not-for-profit organization for at least one year prior to the grant deadline
Be in good standing
Maintain at least $2 million dollars general liability, with the ��ϲ�� as an additional insured

Grant Criteria

Eligible Events/Expenses

A new program or initiative that offers ‘try it’ or ‘learn to’ opportunities to new participants
Workshop or symposiums that help to address or bring awareness to barriers that exist in accessing sport active recreation and wellness serving marginalized populations
Programs or initiatives that align to the Live Active Strategy

Ineligibility Events/Expenses

Existing programs, sports leagues and competitions, travel or registration costs for workshops outside of the ��ϲ�� Region
Luncheons, galas, awards banquets, graduations, roasts
Any event that is not open to all segments of the populace population
Events intended to raise funds for individuals or charities
Request from individuals for personal needs
Operating funds for sport/recreation teams or clubs (Community Investment Operating Grant)
Request for travel funds (personal or team)

Application Submission and Approval Process

Application intake is now open for the 2025 calendar year while funds last.

Assessment and Approval Process

Applications will be reviewed by the ��ϲ��’s Partnership and Events Section based on the General Eligibility Criteria in the order that they are received

The Director of Partnerships and Events Attraction Strategy will maintain the decision to approve or deny funding outside of the above proposed criteria based on other factors

Note: A maximum of 1 eligible grant per organization will be considered for funding in the grant period.

Reporting Requirements

A final report is required within 60 days of completion of the initiative
Report should include an overview of the program
- For example, the number of participants involved in active recreation and sport by targeted populations increases
- High level impact the program has had on the organization or community
- Signed financial report indicating related expenditures
In return for its support, the City will expect a level of recognition that may include logo placement, print/verbal recognitions, complementary delegate registration

Sport Event Hosting Grant

Hosting Grants support organizations with the hosting of provincial, national or international recreational, amateur sport events within the city of ��ϲ��.
