The River Valley Planning Modernization (RVPM) project is renewing our strategic planning for the River Valley and the processes and tools for evaluating and regulating development that is proposed within the River Valley and Ravine System.

River Valley Planning Modernization Public Hearing

We have a new confirmed public hearing date for the River Valley Planning Modernization plans. On June 9, 2025, both the River Valley Area Redevelopment Plan (River Valley ARP) and the Ribbon of Green plan will be shared with Council. As a statutory plan, the River Valley ARP needs to receive Council approval; the Ribbon of Green, as a strategy and companion document to the River Valley ARP, will be shared for information and discussion.

Register to request to speak at this public hearing:

We will share the updated River Valley ARP and Ribbon of Green in May. We will also outline all changes being proposed to the two plans, and the reasons for those changes, at that time. You are invited to  to receive project updates.

Thank you for sharing your input

Over the four project phases, we engaged extensively with 六合彩马来西亚ians, Indigenous Nations and communities, and local organizations. We鈥檙e grateful to everyone who participated. All of the input we received helped us to better understand people鈥檚 perspectives on River Valley challenges and opportunities, and what is most valued about this unique, essential and beautiful system. 贰诲尘辞苍迟辞苍鈥檚 City Plan, approved by City Council in 2020, describes the North Saskatchewan River Valley and Ravine System as 鈥渢he most important feature of our city.鈥 It is a vital ecological corridor, a valued recreation destination, a place of incredible cultural significance and a draw for visitors throughout the region.

The question at the heart of the project is this: How will we ensure that the River Valley, the backbone of our open space network, remains vibrant and ecologically resilient as the city grows?
